Weather-related cancellations will be rescheduled within the 4-week period whenever possible. If a lesson cannot be rescheduled due to ongoing weather conditions, that single lesson will be refunded. Refunds for weather-related cancellations are limited to one per session.

Water Temperature Policy

Mako Swim follows industry‑recommended water temperatures for young swimmers.

For your child’s safety, comfort, and ability to focus, the pool must be at least 85°F at lesson time. This ensures a positive and productive learning experience. If the water is below this temperature, one lesson may be rescheduled at no additional cost. Any additional lessons missed will be charged as scheduled.

Why This Matters
Young swimmers lose heat quickly, and cooler water can lead to tense muscles, shallow breathing, and reduced confidence. Warm water helps children stay relaxed and engaged, supporting safer lessons and faster progress.

Keeping Your Pool Warm for Lessons

Maintaining the right water temperature helps your child stay comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. These simple steps make it much easier to keep your pool at 85°F or warmer for lesson time.

Turn the heater on early
Most home pools need several hours to warm up, especially after cooler nights. Turning the heater on the night before ensures the pool is ready when your lesson begins.

Use a solar cover when the pool isn’t in use
A solar cover traps heat, reduces evaporation, and helps the heater work more efficiently. Even in warm weather, it prevents overnight heat loss.

Check the temperature 1–2 hours before your lesson
A quick temperature check gives you time to adjust the heater if needed and avoids last‑minute surprises.

Run the pump while heating
Circulating the water helps the heater warm the pool evenly and more quickly.

Keep the pool covered until your instructor arrives
Wind and evaporation can cool the water faster than expected. Keeping the cover on preserves heat right up until lesson time.

Avoid adding cold hose water before lessons
Topping off the pool with cold water can drop the temperature several degrees. If you need to add water, do it the day before.
